In a game decided nearly a month after it began, the Utah Catzz dropped a 29-27 decision to Colorado when Utah kicker Doug Beach missed wide right on a 43-yard field goal attempt on May 23.
The kick was the result of an overturned official's ruling after the teams' meeting in Colorado on April 26. Beach had a similar attempt in that game with nine seconds to go in regulation that missed, but an illegal outside rush was not called until league commissioner Dick Suess reviewed the play.
Colorado jumped out to a 20-6 advantage by halftime and held on for the win. The Wildcats ran for four touchdowns, two by Darnell Brooks, but it was Tim Thenell's two-point field goal in the fourth period that proved to be the difference.
