The Albany Firebirds left the defunct AFL for the new AF1 in the 2025 season. Albany had an unbeaten regular season, going 10-0. Sam Castronova quarterbacked the majority of the year, passing for 1,735 yards and 48 touchdowns versus only three interceptions. He ran for five more scores. Duane Brown was his top target, cahcing 30 touchdown passes and racking up 909 yards. He was followed by Isaiah Scott, who accounted for ten scores, and Darien Townsend, who snagged 14 more. Castronova threw for over 500 postseason yards and 13 more scores. In the first round of the playoffs, Albany defeated Salina 75-44 and won the championship 60-57 over Nashville.
