The Boise Burn began their first season by winning four of their first five. However, a seven game losing streak followed and none of the games were close. Boise quarterbacks combined for 31 interceptions. The team bounced back with a four game winning streak to end the season, but missed the playoffs by losing a point differential tiebreaker to Tri-Cities. In 2008, the Burn began the season at 5-2. However, the team would win just three more games after that. Casey Allen was the only Burn receiver to play all sixteen games. The team only won one game against a team with a winning record, and dropped their final two of the regular season at Central Valley and at Spokane, causing the team to miss the playoffs in a tiebreaker with Amarillo. The 2009 Burn were led by Taylor Tharp, who passed for 65 scores, but 22 picks. Jomo Wilson and Nichir Flowers were the two 1,000 yard receivers produced by the team. Opponents only converted 30% on third down and the Burn sacked opponents' quarterbacks 27 times. Defense and special teams also shined with eight pick sixes, ten kick returns for touchdowns, and six fumble returns for touchdowns. Unfortunately, the team received a lot of criticism for playing a very weak schedule. Three of the four regular season losses came to Spokane, while the fourth came at South Georgia. The Burn only posted a single win against an opponent with a winning record: a 54-45 win in Bossier-Shreveport in week two of the season. Despite the 12-4 record, the Burn were bumped to the fourth seed in the postseason, since Spokane won the division. The Burn hosted Arkansas in what many thought would be a very tight game. Boise would dominate, 77-36 and earn a fourth shot at Spokane. The fourth time would not be the charm, as the Shock dominated the Burn oncemore, 59-35. Following the 2009 season, the Burn folded.
