The New England Steamrollers were an unsuccessful franchise that was both unable to win and unable to put fans in the stands. The Steamrollers beat New York twice and Pittsburgh once, but were blown out by their opposition most of the time. The Steamrollers fan-base was not strong enough to keep the team going. Arena football returned to the New England area in 1999, but only lasted for two years.
