The Portland Forest Dragons moved from Memphis after 1996. The change of scenery did not help the Dragons at all. In their first year, the team only won two games. Only one loss was by six points or less, the rest were blowouts. The 1998 season was full of close games. After starting the year 3-1, the Dragons won one of their final nine games, five of them by very close margins. Attendance dropped in the Dragons' final season, as the team once again failed to make the playoffs, this time with a 7-7 record. The franchise moved to Oklahoma the following year.
