The New Mexico Stars moved to the AIF for the 2016 season and defeated Steel City, a travel-only team twice. The team also lost at Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi's only game of the season before folding. The Stars were then awarded a playoff berth and fell at Columbus 49-37.
