The West Michigan Ironmen joined the AIF for the 2016 season and were a brand new franchise in Muskegon. The team went 6-1 in the regular season before advancing to the AIF title game. The Ironmen fell 74-32 at Columbus, but did surpass teams such as River City and Lehigh Valley.
