The Billings Outlaws were reprised in 2022 following the market having no team since 2016. Longtime indoor football veteran Charles McCullum was signed at quarterback. He threw for 1,406 yards, 40 touchdowns and was picked off just nine times. Troy Evans ran for 330 yards and four scores, leading all rushers. Gary Brown caught 56 passes for 539 yards and 13 touchdowns. Tyron Laughinghouse scored 16 times on 53 catches. The Outlaws went 7-3 in the regular season, dropping just one home game. Sioux City used a 22-6 4th quarter to upend Billings 49-42. Billings made the playoffs and defeated Wyoming 49-40 in the first round before falling at Salina 26-14. The team returned in 2023, going 6-4 in the regular season and qualifying for the playoffs. Lorenz Stefan quarterbacked the Outlaws, passing for 1,013 yards, 26 scores and just six picks. Kalib Woods caufht 13 of those touchdowns, while Kris Lewis hauled in ten of his own. Josh Batiste led all rushers with 317 yards and seven scores. Billings put together a four game winning streak to end the regular season and entered the playoffs at home against Sioux City. After a 39-31 victory, the team traveld to unbeaten Omaha and was soundly defeated 42-6.
