The Kansas City Phantoms were a 2017 expansion team in the CIF. The inaugural trio of Frank Seuer, Derrick Bernard, and David Olson combined to pass for just 33 touchdowns to 17 picks, totaling 1,514 yards. Anthony Parks led all receivers with 18 of those touchdown receptions. The team won its final three games of the season, including a 75-70 victory over Sioux City. A 4-8 record led to no postseason berth. The following season saw more stability at quarterback, but a 3-9 record, which doomed the franchise. Donovan Portiere passed for 2,512 yards and 55 touchdowns, but was picked an astronomical 21 times. The offense mustered just 13 rushing scores, while allowing 55. Kansas City folded following the 2018 season.
