The Topeka Tropics were a 2022 CIF expansion team and went winless in their inaugural season. On offense, the team scored 37 touchdowns, with the defense allowing 64. Devond Blair was a standout for the Tropics, running for 109 yards and three scores and also catching 22 balls for 271 yards and eight touchdowns. The best chance Topeka had for a win was a 38-37 loss to Wyoming. Topeka led this game 30-18 at the half and would ultimately lose on a touchdown run with no time left. The Tropics returned in 2023 amidst some upheaval with ownership and off the field issues. The team was competitive in several contests, though, falling in overtime at home to Salina 66-65 early in the year. The team picked up its first victory in franchise history in the final regular season contest against Southwest Kansas, 43-28. Dylan Vanboxel spent the most time at quarterback, throwing for 348 yards, seven scores and seven interceptions. Jeff Carr led all rushers with 127 yards and three touchdowns. Ryan Auman and Travier Fields-Jackson were the only receivers to catch multiple touchdowns at two each.
