The Marion Mayhem finished their inaugural season at 4-6, missing the playoffs. In addition to their two wins against the Revolution, the Mayhem defeated Battle Creek and Rochester. The team had relatively close losses to Lehigh Valley and Battle Creek. In their final game of the season, the Mayhem lost to Rochester, 47-38. Marion lost a tiebreaker with Battle Creek for the fourth and final playoff spot. The 2007 season was not much better, as the team went 6-6 and losing three games by eight points or less. The team did end the regular season on a three game win streak against Summit County and Springfield. The Mayhem then hosted Muskegon and defeated the Thunder, 68-57. The team then took a road trip to Flint to play Port Huron and took it on the chin, 70-20. The Mayhem returned in 2008 and finished with a 7-5 record. Despite being in third place in the division, the Mayhem were off to the playoffs. Rochester's expulsion from the league granted the Mayhem a playoff date at Saginaw. The Mayhem had a last-second chance to even win in Saginaw, but fell 41-34. In 2009, the Mayhem were led by Travares Moodley and Stanley Jackson, who combined to throw for 45 touchdowns and rush for 3 more. Ian Schmidt caught 18 touchdowns for the Mayhem. The team played a seemingly lackluster first half of the year, going 3-2 to start before winning six of their final seven and taking the division title. In the playoffs, the Mayhem would match up with the financially challenged Fort Wayne Freedom. The Freedom would not have been able to play in Marion had it not been for cash infusions from the league and other parties. However, in what is one of the more surprising outcomes in indoor football, the band of players from Fort Wayne would take a 31-14 lead on the Mayhem in the third quarter. However, the Mayhem would storm back and took a 40-37 lead with four minutes to go in the game. Randy Hutchinson led the Freedom with five passing scores, the fifth of which came with 41 seconds left in the game. The Freedom went on to stun Marion, 49-40 and advance to face Chicago for a championship. The Mayhem returned in 2010 under new management. After an opening week beating at the hands of the expansion Cincinnati Commandos, the Josh Davis led team beat Chicago twice. The 19-14 win in Chicago marked a CIFL first and an indoor football rarity, as neither team scored in the second half. Mike Tatum and Maurice Douse led the receivers for the Mayhem, combingin for seven touchdowns and close to 500 yards. However, after starting the year 3-3, the team was forced to fold for financial reasons. The remainder of the season was forfeited in the middle of a playoff race. The team resurfaced in 2011 as the Blue Racers.
