The Port Huron Pirates were the cream of the GLIFL crop in their inaugural season. Any team that holds opponents to an average of 22 points per game is going to win a lot of games. The only real competition for the Pirates was Rochester. However, Rayshawn Askew and Shane Franzer lead the Pirates to two close wins. After a 74-3 drubbing of Battle Creek in the playoffs, the Raiders and Pirates hooked up in the Great Lakes Bowl. For the third time, the Pirates won the defensive battle, 40-34. The Pirates cruised through the league in 2007, as well. The team's closest regular season game came in the opener against Rochester by 32 points. The team moved to Flint, Michigan for the playoffs due to the team moving permanently for the 2008 season. The team drew around 600 fans for both playoff games. After routing Marion, 70-20, Shane Franzer and crew finally had a challenge against Kalamazoo. The Pirates survived 37-29 and advanced. The team opted not to host the championship game, allowing Rochester and their 4,000 plus fans to host the game. Port Huron was sloppy and without their starting center. Rochester handed the Pirates their first ever loss in franchise history, 37-27.
