The Rock River Raptors moved to the CIFL from the UIF. The team went 6-5 and qualified for the playoffs. All five losses came by eight points or less. After splitting two regular season games with division champion Chicago, the Raptors unseated the Slaughter 54-39 in their playoff meeting. The team advanced to play Kalamazoo. The Xplosion had defeated the Raptors in overtime in their first game of the season. The Xplosion again defeated the Raptors 56-42. In 2009, behind Brian Ryczkowski, responsible for 40 touchdowns, the Raptors won seven games. Unfortunately, a two point loss in the season opener against Wisconsin began a string of four losses in a row to open the season. Despite winning seven of their final eight, including a miraculous win at Marion to end the season, the Raptors lost a playoff tiebreaker to Wisconsin for a chance to play Chicago again. Rock River suspended operations for the 2010 season.
