The Bay Area Panthers were a San Jose-based IFL expansion team for 2022. The team won just one game. The victory was their inaugural game and first home game, a 38-33 defeat of San Diego. Only one of the fifteen losses came by single digits, a 9 point loss to Tucson in the final game, with the rest coming by at least fifteen points. Dan Crowell Jr. stuck with the team for fourteen games and led all receivers with 546 yards and ten touchdowns. Four quarterbacks combined for 26 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. Bay Area experienced one of the greatest turnarounds in IFL history, going from a 15 loss season to a league title. Dixie Wooten was head coach of the team and Dalton Sneed was chosen as the quarterback. He passed for 2,163 yards and 49 touchdowns to just three picks. JT Stokes led all receivers by far, bringing in 27 touchdowns on 73 catches for 882 yards. Nih-jer Jackson scored 16 times and racked up 665 yards. Justin Rankin led all rushers with 45 touchdowns and netted 923 yards, providing the Panthers with a very well balanced offense. The five losses Bay Area suffered came by a combined 28 points, as they were in every single game. A 47-46 seaosn opening victory over Arizona propelled the team to a 10-5 regular season and a playoff berth. Tucson and Northern Arizona were dominated by the Panthers, and Bay Area advanced to the Indoor Bowl in Las Vegas against Sioux Falls, a team with a rich championship history in the sport. In Kurtiss Riggs' final game for Sioux Falls after 20 years, Bay Area would take over early, building a two possession lead by halftime and a 17 point margin until a late Storm touchdown cut the final score to 51-41.
