The Saginaw Sting joined the IFL, moving from the CIFL. In their first year in eight-on-eight competition, the team won just three games and scored 30 points per game. While the defense tended to be highly competitive, the offense was usually non-existent. The team was also outscored 148-84 in the first quarter, so the team was consistently playing from behind. Rob Hunt was the most successful quarterback, throwing for 11 touchdowns to 8 picks, while Robert Height led the team in receiving with 325 yards and 7 scores. The Sting rushed for 619 yards. The three lone wins came against Muskegon and Rochester early in the year. The season ended on a nine game losing streak.
