The Madison Mad Dogs were one of the original teams in the league that came from the IPFL. In 1999, the team went an even 6-6, despite a 4-2 start. The Mad Dogs were on the losing end of the only shutout in IFL history, a 36-0 loss at Peoria in their first game. Despite going 1-1 against Dayton, the Mad Dogs lost a tiebreaker with the Skyhawks and thus did not get a playoff berth. In 2000, the team began the year at 1-4, but managed to win five of their next six and their final two. After earning a home playoff game, the Mad Dogs beat the Erie Invaders, 34-22. The team earned a trip to Peoria, a team that had beat them at home in a 62-59 heartbreaker. This time, Peoria won again, 25-13. When the IFL was sold, Madison folded. No team has played in Madison since.
