The Green Bay Bombers completed a successful first season in the PIFL. The team lost twice to Madison and Louisiana Bayou. Despite averaging 45 points per game and giving up 35 points per game, the Bombers were no match for the Madison Mad Dogs in the playoffs, as they were crushed, 46-19. Following the 1998 season, owner Kerry Ecklund formed the Indoor Football League, and the Bombers moved on. The Bombers of the IFL did not merge with the af2 when the league was sold, but a team resurfaced in 2004.
