The Fort Wayne Freedom had two average seasons in the NIFL with the best attendance figures in NIFL history. In both years, the Freedom finished at 8-6. Five of the six losses in 2003 were on the road and usually by narrow margins. The team did not make the postseason in 2003. The following year, the team put 80 points up against Evansville and lost an overtime match against Staten Island. This time, the Freedom qualified for the postseason. The Freedom hosted the Show Me Believers and won, 45-28. The next week, the Freedom would lose by a point, 36-35 to the Ohio Valley Greyhounds. The Freedom franchise moved to the UIF following the 2004 season and continued to improve.
