The Columbus Lions enjoyed tremendous success in their first year with the WIFL. Quarterbacks Joey Conrad and Andrew McKay combined for 45 touchdowns and 15 interceptions en route to a 10-4 regular season. The Lions earned a first round bye and hosted the first World Indoor Bowl against Augusta. Augusta had beaten the Lions twice in the regular season and did again on a last second field goal. The Spartans defeated the Lions 63-60.
